"i like the word soul. i like the word mates. other than that, you got me..."
.
So, this is my life.
And I want you to know that I am both happy and sad and I'm still trying to figure out how that could be.

i always remember the conversation elizabeth gilbert ("eat, pray, love") had with someone about soul mates. that in general people think that "soul mate" indicates someone who you are to spend your whole life with. when really, it's completely the opposite. the purpose of a "soul mate" is so intense (and enters your life for a particular reason)that you could never spend your whole life with that person. you'd, like, explode or something.
thanks for adding that, T. very good point.
i think carrie was the original elizabeth gilbert: a single wanderer, always post-breakup, seeking answers about life, love, and even her own soul. but then, isn't every woman and gay man another version of liz or carrie? aren't we all seeking those things? maybe.
anyway, thanks for commenting, T. it made me think of later in the soul mates episode when charlotte adds:
"Don't laugh at me... but maybe we could be each others soul mates. And then we could just let men be just these great nice guys to have fun with."
and that made me think of my urban family. even though i'd like my future husbie to be a soulmate too :-)
